Care should be taken when inserting the inflation needle into the ball to prevent damaging the valve and bladder.
Mitre Glycerine should be used to allow the needle to be inserted smoothly. This is particularly important on initial inflation as the wall of the bladder can be punctured if the needle is pushed in too far before any air is pumped in.
The amount of pressure in a ball will significantly affect the performance and durability of the ball.
Pressure should be checked regulary as not only do balls gradually lose air through the wall of the bladder, but temperature can also alter the pressure by 1 psi for every 10 Degrees C.
The recommended pressure is printed on the ball and this should be checked regularly with a Mitre pressure gauge.
If the ball gets wet during play, it should be dried in an airy place and not force dried with heat as this may damage the ball.
