Johann Muller

Johann Muller

Johann Muller made his provincial debut for the Sharks in 2001 and made his Super 14 debut against the Hurricanes in 2003.

Muller put in a series of good performances for the Sharks in the Super 14 leading to him being called up to the national team.

He made his South Africa debut as a replacement in the match against Scotland in 2006 on his home ground of the ABSA Stadium.

Muller played in the 2007 Super 14 Final against the Bulls and was selected in the South Africa squad for the 2007 Tri Nations Series.

Muller received four caps at the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France.

With the honour of Springbok captaincy earned in 2007, Muller is now one of the senior statesmen in the Sharks squad. He succeeded John Smit as Sharks captain with 94 Sharks caps. An honest player with a high work rate, his role as lock is generally to play tight, providing vital support by following the action and content to remain out of the glory and limelight.

He is a valuable part of the Sharks' tight-five, has captained the side and is a player known for his willingness to get his hands dirty doing hard instead of glamorous work.
