
The Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) is the governing body of football in Lithuania. The Federation, which was formed in 1922 is responsible for football development in the country and for the Lithuania national football team. It is based in Vilnius. LFF became a member of FIFA in 1923, but following Lithuania's annexation by the Soviet Union it was disbanded. It became a member again in 1992 after Lithuania became independent. As well as being responsible for the national team it also represents the 2 Lithuaniun leagues. The top division A Lyga and 1 Lyga. The A Lyga (The A League) is the top division of professional football in Lithuania. It is organised by NFCA (National Football Club Association). The league consists of 8 teams in the competition. There are no games over the winter due to the harsh climate, so the season kicks off in late March/early April every year. The LFF use Mitre footballs
