England v Jamaica - The Rematch

16/12/2008

The England Netball squad are preparing themselves for a series of heated performances against their old nemesis the 'Sunshine Girls' of Jamaica in the Co-operative International Netball Series on February 22nd, 24th and 26th, in London, Nottingham and Coventry.

With nothing separating the two sides, the pressure is on for an unforgettable series, as memories of the 2007 World Championships and the 2006 Commonwealth games shadow the England Squad, where the bronze medals were split between the England & Jamaica, with no more than one goal between them in both competitions. This time the England girls are determined to end up on top.

Nigel Holl, Director of Netball at England Netball is looking forward to renewing the battle against Jamaica, and in particular to watching England's Sonia Mkoloma take on and challenge Jamaica's Romelda Aiken. He said: “Both players are great athletes and were in stunning form as joint 'most valuable players' at the ANZ Championships. Sonia (England Co-captain) has continued that form in our recent series against Australia and New Zealand, so it should be a battle royal!

“Mkoloma's vast experience against Aiken's impressive height will give spectators something to watch. Bring it on!”

England will be pulling out all the stops to demonstrate desire, passion, energy and great skills throughout the series, hoping to prove they are the ones to watch in 2009.
