Mitre puts the Freestyle into Football

Mitre has teamed up with record breaking freestyle footballer John Farnworth to design and manufacture a special ball, based on one of Mitre's soft feel training balls called "The Force", which is made from TPU outer and soft foam backed lining.

John will used the uniquely designed ball for the World Football Freestyle Champion which he hopes will give youngsters everywhere the chance to emulate his skills. The new ball features John's initials 'JF' alongside the Mitre logo.

Newly crowned Keepy-uppy king John, 22, who is in the Guiness World Records for performing 83 'Around the Worlds' – passing the foot completely around the ball without letting it touch the ground – in one minute, specifically requested to work with Mitre, as it is the leading manufacturer of balls for all occasions.

Mitre's Ball Development Director Duncan Anderson said of the partnership: “The art of Freestyle is a fast growing and enormously popular part of modern football and Mitre is thrilled to be working with John as he aims to get more people involved in this exciting sport.”

The John Farnworth Freestyle Football incorporates bespoke layers of material that ensure the ball reacts in exactly the way any freestyler whether they are professional like John or an enthusiastic beginner wants it to.

Commenting on the new design John said “I have grown up using whatever ball I can get my hands on for my training and shows, but being able to design a ball specifically for freestyle is so exciting.”
