Wayne Henessey Main

Mitre's new January transfer

24/01/2012

Mitre is proud to introduce everyone to the latest member of our squad, Wales and Wolverhampton Wanderers number 1, Wayne Hennessey.

A product of the Wolves youth academy, Wayne spent a few seasons on loan in lower Football League clubs to gain first team experience. Along the way he managed to demolish Stockport County’s 119 year-old record for the longest period without conceding a goal. His Football League record currently stands at 857 minutes, equating to an impressive nine-and-a-half matches without conceding a goal.

Hennessey took those invaluable foundations back to Wolves in 2007 and finished that season voted into the PFA Championship team of the season, as well as Wolves’ player of the year.

Now firmly established as Wales number 1, Wayne has signed with Mitre for an exciting two-and-a-half year period and will be sporting our new Mitre Anza G2 Pro Goalkeeper gloves, also worn by Australia and Fulham number 1, Mark Schwarzer.

Mitre gloves are now worn by 10% of goalkeepers in the Barclays Premier League, so this is another significant step forward as we grow our share in the global Glove market.
