
The Russian Cup is a football competition held annually by the Football Union of Russia for professional football clubs. The competition was founded in 1992 and in represented by all the clubs from the Russsian Premier League, First and Second Division as well as amateur clubs. The Russian Cup has been played since 1992, and in the 2008/9 final saw CSKA Moscow narrowly beat FC Rubin Kazan 1-0 at the Arena Khimki in Khimki. To date, Terek Grozny is the only club which has won the cup while playing in the First Division, and the most succesful winners of the competiton is both Lokomotiv Moscow and CSKA Moscow who have both won the competition 5 times.
