Scottish Premier League

Formed in 1998 by its ten founder members, The Scottish Premier was set up to provide an environment in which Scotland's foremost clubs can improve their quality and image, maximise the commercial value of the game and thus ensure its long term future and prosperity. Its role is to run the league, support the clubs and act in the best interests of the clubs commercially. Mitre is recognised as the first ever professional supplier and manufacturer of footballs and has been the official ball supplier to the Scottish Premier League from its conception in 1998.

In July 2006 Mitre launched a range of club specific balls for each of the 12 Scottish Premier sides; in addition, the winners of the league play all of their home games with an exclusive gold coloured ball to remind everyone in the league of their champion status.

The Scottish Premier League and Mitre announced a four-year partnership that will see Mitre continue as official ball supplier until 2015.

Mitre has supplied the SPL with top-quality match balls since the start of the league in 1998 and the Mitre TENSILE ball will continue to be used for the 2011/12 season, with each club having a personalised ball printed in club colours and displaying their club badge.
