Mitre’s Ultimax is back, back, back again!
It’s never giving up. It’s enjoying every moment. It’s singing at the top of our voices. It’s not always making the right choices. It’s standing room only. It’s playing to the whistle. It’s listening to Wonderwall. It’s booting my favourite ever ball. It’s pie and peas. It’s hearts on sleeves. It’s the spirit of ’95. The time of our lives. And now it’s all yours. Go wear it with pride.
Now this is spirit of ’95!
Wayyyyyyy back in 1995 – probably before you were born – or maybe not for some of you old timers, theMitre Ultimax hit the pitches to become one of the most iconic and celebrated balls to grace the game. Regardless of your age, it’s a ball you’ll recognise, it’s a ball you’ve dreamt about and today THAT ball is reintroduced as part of a limited edition drop in what we’re calling the new Mitre ’95 collection.
Celebrating 25 years (that’s right, it’s been a couple of decades!) of the Mitre Ultimax football, we’ve created an exclusive edition of 600 balls and we’ve dropped this pretty-fly (yes, we do say so ourselves) gender-neutral capsule collection featuring three footballs, two t-shirts and a jacket.
Inspired by the one-and-only ball, the new range is available now, 25 years on from when the ball first made its mark on professional pitches worldwide. The first ever ball to be recorded at over 100mph, the Mitre Ultimax was at the feet of leading goal scorers including Alan Shearer, Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen. Now, a whole new football generation will get to experience the power of the Mitre Ultimax.

Throwback

1992-1994
Back in 1992 and the kick-off of a new well-known league, and yours-truly hit the stadiums as official ball supplier. The lesser known Mitre Pro Max lasted for three seasons and had the honour of being used for the first ever games in the league.
The first goal scored with the ball came from Sheffield United striker Brian Deane in his team’s clash with Manchester United at Bramall Lane.
1995-2000
After three seasons with the Pro Max, we stepped up our game and a legend is born…the Ultimax in 1995.
Used for half a decade in England’s top-flight, the Ultimax is the longest serving ball in Premier League history.
Its first season in use saw United take the title back from the previous season’s surprise winners Blackburn Rovers and coincided with the glory years of mid 1990’s football.
One of the most famous goals scored with the ball saw West Ham’s Paolo Di Canio execute a superb scissor-kick volley from a Trevor Sinclair cross against Wimbledon at Upton Park in 2000.
It also coincided with United’s league title triumph in 1999 as part of their historic treble under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Some pretty sickkk memories of a classic right?
